La participation est toujoursAn all-picture tool for meeting with God as a family — done at the child's own pace, calmly. Participation is alwayslibreoptional.

Version à co-construireA version to build togetheravec les parents et, si possible, l'orthophoniste ou l'éducateur de l'enfant — et avecwith the parents and, if possible, the child's speech therapist or support worker — and withses propres pictogrammesthe child's own pictograms(ARASAAC). It is a starting point, not a finished product.

1 · Ma routine de l'autel1 · My altar routine

Always in the same order. Show each picture, then turn the card over when it is done. Short: 5 steps.Chaque étape est une invitationEach step is an invitation: l'enfant peut en sauter — on ne force pas.: the child may skip any of them — never force.

For difficult transitions: put one picture in “first”, one in “then”. The child sees what is coming.

2 · Ma carte « pause »2 · My “break” card

L'enfant peut la montrerThe child can show itquand il veutwhenever they wantpour faire une pause (bruit, trop, besoin de calme). On la respecte toujours, tout de suite. C'est sa manière de dire « j'ai besoin d'un moment ».in order to take a break (noise, too much, a need for quiet). It is always honoured, straight away. It is their way of saying “I need a moment”.

PauseBreak
Honouring it straight away teaches the child that the altar is asûrsafe space— et il y reviendra plus volontiers.— and they will come back to it more willingly. Ignored even once, and the card loses all its meaning.

To be filled in with the parents (and the occupational therapist if possible). Pour les grands — comment s'en servirFor the grown-ups — how to use it

Cet outil s'appuie sur des pratiquesThis tool draws on practicesfondées sur des preuvesthat are evidence-basedpour les enfants autistes : emploi du temps visuel, « d'abord/ensuite », communication par images, carte de pause, et passage de l'abstrait au concret.for autistic children: visual schedule, “first/then”, picture communication, a break card, and moving from the abstract to the concrete.

Cinq repèresFive markers

  • Toujours pareil.Always the same.Même ordre, même endroit, même durée courte. Same order, same place, same short duration. Predictability lowers anxiety — that is what matters most.
  • Très court.Very short.3 à 5 minutes suffisent. ») dès le début.3 to 5 minutes is enough. Better short and successful than long and endured. Show the ending (the “done!” card) right from the start.
  • Un principe à la foisOne principle at a time, répété plusieurs jours. Repetition does not bore: it reassures.
One single lapse, and it loses all its meaning. That is what makes the altar “safe”.
  • Célèbre la participation, pas l'obéissance.Celebrate participation, not obedience. Showing a card, making a gesture, staying one minute — that is already meeting God.

L'enfant est propriétaireThe child owns it

The aim is not that they “do the worship”, but that theyrencontre Dieu à sa façonmeet God in their own way. Presuming competence, respecting their pace, making everything optional — that is what truly welcoming them means.
